Types of Puzzles that can be asked in IBPS Clerk Prelims

IBPS Clerk Prelims is going to be conducted from 2nd November.With less than 35 days remaining,its time for aspirants to know about types of Puzzles and Arrangements which can be asked in IBPS Clerk Prelims.Last year,total 15 questions of 15 marks came from this section which is almost 45 % of total marks of Reasoning.So,it is very important for students to focus on Puzzles and Arrangements in order to score good marks in Reasoning section of IBPS Clerk Prelims.Let’s have a look at the most important types of puzzles which has the high probability to be asked in IBPS Clerk Prelims.

1)Circular Arrangement-This is one of the most popular puzzles which is usually asked every year.In this type of puzzle,there can be 6 or 8 persons who are seated around a circular table and they can be facing inside or outside the center.There are many possible variations from this type of puzzle.
a)6 or 8 persons seated around a circular table facing towards the center without any variable (parameter).
b)6 or 8 persons seated around a circular table facing outside center without any variable (parameter).
c)6 or 8 persons seated around a circular table facing inside/outside with parameter.For example,8 persons are seated around around a circular table and they like different colors red,blue,green etc.Here color is the one parameter.There can also be a puzzle with two parameters.For example,these 8 persons like 8 different colors and 8 different brands.Here colors and brands are the two parameters.

2)Linear Arrangement-This is another most popular puzzle which are asked every year in IBPS Clerk exam.In this puzzle,we have to arrange people on a straight line.Again there are lot of variations in the puzzles of Linear Arrangement.
a)6/8/10 persons seated in a row and they are facing either North or South.
b)6/8/10 persons seated in a row and some of them are facing North and some of them are facing South.
c)Linear Arrangement based on Parallel rows where 4 or 6 people seated in a row and all of them are facing south and another group of 4 or 6 people seated in a row parallel to the first row and all of them are facing North.

3)Floor Arrangement-Another popular arrangement and questions from this type mostly come in almost all bank exams like SBI PO,SBI Clerk,IBPS PO,etc.In this type of arrangement,we have to arrange people on a building with storeys.There are 2 to 3 variations in puzzle based on Floor Arrangement.
a)6-10 persons-living on different floors without any variable (parameter) given.
b)6-10 persons-living on different floor with 1/2/ variables  (parameters) given like those people like different colors and brands.

4)Box Puzzle-This type of puzzle is advanced version of Floor based Puzzle.The concept is totally same of Floor Puzzle but here,floors are replaced by boxes.

5)Distribution Based Puzzle-This is the most scoring puzzle and one can easily get 5 marks within 2-3 minutes by solving 5 questions related to it.For example,suppose there are 8 persons and they like 8 different colors and also they belong to 8 different cities.Here we have to arrange the persons along with their color and cities.Sometimes,there can be three variables like colors,cities,brands.All you have to do is just to make a table and read the points in a systematic way.
