Nutrition provides energy and building material. 6 components: Carbohydrates (energy, rice/wheat), Proteins (body-building, pulses/meat), Fats (energy storage, oils/ghee), Vitamins (protective), Minerals (regulatory), Water (60-70% of body). Balanced diet has all 6 in right proportion. BMR = Basal Metabolic Rate (minimum energy at rest). Malnutrition: Kwashiorkor (protein deficiency — swollen belly), Marasmus (protein + calorie — very thin child). Roughage/Fibre aids digestion.
