📋Quick Overview
Reproduction is the biological process of producing offspring. Two types: Asexual (single parent, no gametes) and Sexual (two parents, gametes fuse). Asexual types: Binary fission (Amoeba), Budding (Hydra, Yeast), Fragmentation (Spirogyra), Vegetative propagation (plants — stem cutting, layering). Sexual in plants: Pollination (transfer of pollen)→Fertilization→Seed→Fruit. In humans: Male (testes→sperm) + Female (ovaries→egg/ovum) → Fertilization in fallopian tube → Embryo in uterus.
📝Key Facts
- •Binary fission: parent splits into two (Amoeba, bacteria)
- •Budding: new organism grows as bud (Hydra, Yeast)
- •Pollination: Self (same flower) or Cross (different flower)
- •Pollination agents: Wind, Water, Insects, Birds
- •Fertilization in humans occurs in Fallopian tube
- •Test tube baby = In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
